Tune in to BYUradio’s Highway 89 program this Wednesday, April 17, at 10pm ET/8pm MT to hear famed trombonist Wycliffe Gordon perform with BYU’s Jazz Legacy Dixieland Band!

Wycliffe Gordon is a world renowned jazz trombonist, arranger, composer and conductor. In addition to his busy touring schedule, he also teaches in the Jazz Arts program at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. He won the 2012 “Trombonist of the Year Award” from the Jazz Journalists Association (an award that he has won on six previous occasions), he’s a veteran member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet and a former member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. He has performed with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Tommy Flanagan and Shirley Horn.

Highway 89 is a live music performance program that originates in the radio studios of BYU Broadcasting and is distributed nationally on Sirius XM 143 BYU Radio. In 2012, Highway 89 featured 595 musicians from different genres of music -- Classical, Jazz, Broadway, Folk, Celtic and A cappella, to name a few.
